NEQCA engages nationally-renowned children’s health improvement organization to enhance, expand pediatric care

Braintree, Mass. (June 3, 2014)—New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA), the community physician network affiliated with Tufts Medical Center, announced today that it has engaged the Boston-based National Institute for Children’s Health Quality (NICHQ) to help it enhance health care access for children across its network and expand its pediatric presence in Massachusetts.

The project will create an improvement strategy to identify areas of excellence within the network and leverage those best practices and leading outcomes to benefit all of the network’s pediatricians and the patients they serve.

A comparison of peer groups according to the 2012 Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) HEDIS measures shows that NEQCA network pediatricians perform at or above the peer group average on more pediatric measures for the year than any other group of pediatricians in the state.

NEQCA President and CEO Jeffrey Lasker, MD, MMM, FAAP said the NICHQ project will help NEQCA build on its strong pediatric services.  “We’re very excited to have an organization with NICHQ’s expertise help us further improve upon our solid pediatric outcomes and help equip our physicians with the best tools to excel in their work and enhance the care they provide.”

“We are pleased to offer NICHQ’s expertise to help improve NEQCA’s already successful network,” said Charles Homer, MD, MPH, NICHQ’s President and CEO. “Ultimately, we expect this work to increase provider satisfaction and enhance NEQCA’s standing in the communities it serves.”

NICHQ will work collaboratively with NEQCA’s more than 106 pediatricians to share best practices and align objectives to create a focused network pediatric strategy for the future.
