Cape Cod Resident Takes on New Role with NEQCA
Boston (March 8, 2010)—The New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA) today announced that Dr. Ted Herwig has been named as the organization’s new Board Chair. Dr. Herwig was nominated and appointed at the January 26th NEQCA Board of Trustees meeting.
“I look forward to the role of Board Chair for the New England Quality Care Alliance,” said Dr. Herwig. “I’ve been an active member of the NEQCA board since 2005 and it is an honor to be appointed by my colleagues. I have been consistently impressed by the quality of care that NEQCA physicians provide to patients throughout the Commonwealth. This is an interesting and critical period for health care in this country and I am excited to help guide NEQCA into the next decade.”
Dr. Herwig has been on the admitting staff at Cape Cod Hospital since 1990 and recently completed his third term as Family Practice Department Chief. He has also provided nursing home care since 1990 and has served as the subacute unit medical director at Eagle Pond Nursing Home since 1998. Dr. Herwig is board certified in family practice and is on the clinical teaching faculties of Boston University and UMass and on the community affiliate staff of Tufts Medical Center.
In 1996, Dr. Herwig co-founded Cape Physicians, LLC, a group of primary care providers who have come together to provide high quality primary care on Cape Cod . He has been the inpatient medical director since 1999. Dr. Herwig joined the NEQCA Board in 2005 and has most recently served on the Governance Committee and the Budget & Finance Committee.

Dr. Herwig received his bachelor’s degree from Williams College before attending medical school at University of Cincinnati. He currently resides with his family on Cape Cod.
