NEQCA Launches New Leadership Development Program

January 20, 2018 marked the launch of the NEQCA Leadership Academy, a best-in-class program, designed to strengthen the leadership capabilities of current and emerging leaders across NEQCA’s network of 13 local care organizations (LCOs) and more than 1,700 physicians. This six-part series provides one-day classes in Leadership, Negotiations, Financial Stewardship, Performance Management, Resilience and Change Management – all taught by international experts in their fields – over a six month period. The first cohort includes 32 clinical and administrative leaders from 11 of NEQCA’s 13 LCOs and NEQCA Central’s management team. “One of the things that differentiates our network from others is our strong commitment to physician leadership,” said NEQCA President and CEO Joe Frolkis. “In the healthcare industry, physician and administrative leaders are frequently put in positions without adequate training in the skills necessary for their success. It’s unfair to hold these leaders accountable, and the related skill gaps can undermine performance and professional satisfaction. Through the NEQCA Leadership Academy, we’re making an important investment to address this disconnect and ensure that we have the leaders we need to sustain our organization and high-performing culture.” Clinicians who complete the NEQCA Leadership Academy program will receive Continuing Medical Education credits, and all participants will receive a Certificate in Healthcare Leadership.
