(Aug. 18) – New England Quality Care Alliance, the community physician network affiliated with Tufts Medical Center, announced today that Pediatric Associates Inc. of Brockton is joining its network of physicians. The affiliation will take effect Jan. 1, 2011.
Pediatric Associates has been serving the children and families of the Greater Brockton area for more than 30 years. The practice includes nine pediatricians and two nurse practitioners supported by 50 staff members, with clinicians seeing children at three offices in Brockton, West Bridgewater and Hanson. The practice is open 365 days a year, seven days a week and five nights a week to enable busy parents to bring their children to the doctor whenever they need to be seen, helping to avoid unnecessary emergency department visits.
Throughout its more than three decades of serving young patients, Pediatric Associates has provided children with a full range of care from well-child visits to diagnosis and treatment for more serious illnesses. The practice has a strong focus on the management of depression, asthma and ADHD, and takes particular interest in preventing and managing childhood obesity. The practice has also developed an adolescent gynecology program.
“As a pediatrician who trained at Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, I am very familiar with the high quality the hospital offers to young patients when they need the most complex level of care. My colleagues and I look forward strengthening our bonds with by becoming members of NEQCA,” said Peter Rappo, MD, one of the physician leaders at Pediatric Associates Inc. “We are committed to high quality, state of the art care, and we feel that NEQCA will be an ideal partner in that mission. We believe that our addition to the network will help to strengthen an already superb group of clinicians.”
When Pediatric Associates patients need to receive care in the hospital, they are frequently admitted to Brockton Hospital, which is also clinically affiliated with Tufts Medical Center and its Floating Hospital for Children. When Pediatric Associates patients need a more complex level of care, their pediatricians will have close contact with specialists at Floating Hospital. This will ensure a smooth transition of care as children recover and return to their homes and to the care of their pediatrician.
